When is cosmetic oculoplasty performed?
Cosmetic problems include all eyelid changes that do not affect a person's health. This category includes, for example, excessive creasing of the eyelid skin over the years, which leads to a more tired appearance, as well as bags above and below the eyes. Cosmetic disorders also include small growths on the eyelid skin, most commonly papillomas that do not affect the eyeball, tiny cysts without inflammation, and small yellowish growths on the eyelid skin, usually deposits of cholesterol or other lipids.
