Echmiadzin: the spiritual capital of Armenia
A 30-minute drive from Yerevan is the town of Vagharshapat, a town that is popularly called Echmiadzin in honor of the Mother See Cathedral located there. Here, on the territory of the complex, I will tell the history and legends about the adoption of Christianity by the first in the world. About the influence of religion on the formation of national identity of our people, about the canonical structure of the Armenian Apostolic Church and its role in the life of our people. On the territory of the complex are also located the residence of the Catholicos (Patriarch), a spiritual seminary, a library, many ancient cross-stones and much more.
Let's familiarize ourselves with the infrastructure and architectural features of the Church. The complex is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
If you wish and are able, we will visit the treasury museum where we will show you the major relics of the Church, such as the Spear of Longinus, the Fragment of Noah's Ark and much more.
Yerevan: Yesterday and Today
After the spiritual part of our tour we will return to Yerevan, where during a walking tour through wide and narrow streets and secret courtyards I will tell you about my favorite city and to whom it owes its modern appearance. We will walk from the Republic Square to the open-air museum - the Cascade complex, visit the Moscow cinema in the historical part of the city, walk along the "Swan Lake" and the Opera House to the French Square, study the monuments of the greats and sculptures of famous authors.
We will not burden you with encyclopedic facts and dry figures, but will help you to absorb its flavor, reveal the secrets of life of the city, its stories and legends, as well as reveal its architectural symbols.
Well, and at the end of the day, we will give you all the clues and passwords of local restaurants and establishments, tell you where the most delicious dolma is and tell you how to spend your free time in an interesting way, in other words, teach you how to feel at home while being our guests.
Tsakhkadzor: mountains, cable car and ancient monastery
On the picturesque slopes of Mount Teghenis, I will tell you the history of the emergence and development of the country's most famous ski resort and how it became famous during the Soviet years. We will show you its main attraction - Kecharis monastery complex. Besides, take a ride on a chairlift to the 2700 m mark, where you will enjoy the panoramic views of the mountain ranges and Ararat itself.
Unexplored Sevan: Ayravank Monastery and Noratus cross stones
On the western coast of Sevan, where there are few tourists, we will visit monuments against the backdrop of azure water and snow-capped peaks. We will drive along the traces of the Great Silk Road to the ancient monastery of Ayravank, where I will tell you the legend about the rescue from the deadly army of Tamerlane. In the village of Noratus, in the largest open-air museum, we will tell you about the art of Armenian cross stones and teach you how to code Armenian cross stones.
Master class and tasting at the family cheese factory
After mountain landscapes and stories we will visit the Sepec farm of unique cheeses, where the first of a dynasty of cheesemakers invents and creates unusual cheeses: aged in cognac, wine and grape leaves. You will hear the incredible story of how an economist from the capital changed his profession overnight and became a cheesemaker. He will share with you the subtleties and some secrets of his craft. You will take part in a master class on cheese making. And at the end you will enjoy a rich tasting of delicious varieties.
